Interdisciplinary Expertise
The program has an integrative and interdisciplinary character, providing in-depth knowledge and modern methods regarding intra- and interindividual differences throughout adult development and the aging process. The curriculum aims to develop competencies at the intersection of developmental psychology, neuropsychology, clinical psychology, health psychology, cognitive psychology, differential psychology, experimental psychology, psychological counseling, and psychotherapy.
Through this comprehensive approach, the master’s program contributes to the training of clinical psychologists, psychological counselors, psychotherapists, gerontopsychologists, as well as other practitioners and researchers interested in the fields of mental health and aging.


Practice and Professional Excellence
A defining element of the program is its practical component and the expertise of the academic staff involved. The professors and trainers have both clinical and research experience and are specialists and supervisors in the fields of clinical psychology, counseling, and psychotherapy. In addition, the master’s program is developed in collaboration with the Ana Aslan National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics, a partnership that provides students with access to a solid foundation in clinical practice and research, coordinated by highly specialized supervisors.
During the two years of study, students complete four practical training placements carried out both within the institute and in other specialized centers, providing applied experience and direct exposure to relevant professional settings.

Scope
Master
The master’s program “Clinical Gerontopsychology, Counseling, and Therapeutic Interventions” is the first program of its kind in Romania and represents a unique educational initiative in the field of gerontopsychology. It is organized within the fundamental field of Social Sciences, specialization in Psychology, under the Department of Applied Psychology and Psychotherapy, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, at the University of Bucharest.
The program is accredited and designed according to recent international standards, while also being adapted to the national context and the current needs of the labor market. It provides comprehensive and relevant professional training for future specialists in the field. In addition, the master’s program is accredited in the clinical field by the College of Psychologists of Romania, allowing graduates to obtain autonomous professional practice certification and constituting an essential specialization for future clinical psychologists, psychological counselors, and psychotherapists.
